Look at us! We were such babies. This must have been our sophomore year. Ohh the memories.
Cam invited me to a Christmas party thrown by one of his coworkers. It was themed American Psycho, so of course I watched the movie a few days ago. I thought I was going to get murdered in Chicago, but that wasn't the case, obviously.
We took the train from Crystal Lake, 15 minutes from where he lives. It was about an hour and a half train ride, which is what Cam takes every day to work. He works downtown, which is pretty sweet.
The first thing we did after we trekked through the snow and dropped off our stuff at the hotel was tour his place of work! He showed me around on a scooter.
We were going to eat at Eataly, since it just opened up a few weeks prior, but we found out that it was more of a fancy schmancy grocery store. A restaurant just opened up in the back of Eataly, four days after we were there. Of course. There were so many people there, all drinking wine, eating appetizers, shopping for fine wine and and cheeses and meats. We wanted a sit-down restaurant so we walked a few blocks to Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. I honestly didn't think it was a super fancy restaurant when we walked in. It was. But when I was at the Smithsonian in Washington DC seven years ago I thought that was just a regular museum. I'm such a blonde.
It. Was. DELICIOUS. Seriously one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time. The only thing that could have been better would be seeing Michael Jordan himself.
After dinner, we went window shopping down Michgian Avenue. We stopped in the new Burberry store (my absolute favorite high-fashion brand), the Apple store, the Coach store, and more. Flash forward a few hours to the Christmas party! We were drinking Rumchata and then Jameson and I was talking to all these intellectual people who worked in Chicago and when they asked me what I did, I meekly said, 'I'm a student...' I need to get out more. I had the best time though.
I didn't take any pictures at the party, but here's a picture of Reese, Lauren, Cam and I at a party sophomore year.
The next morning Cam and I went to State and Lake!
It was so good catching up with my friend Cam. He's one of the only people who's graduated who I still talk to and I only wish him the best. Love you, friend!
